When we were young we don't understand
The baggage of love, or the pain it brings.
Love was such an innocent thing...

We giggled when we saw someone kiss.
On tiny notes we scribbled our crush's name,
We teased each other but that's much better
Than a thing called jealousy.

When we are young we didn't really need
That thing called popularity.
Making friends was so much easier then...

We didn't know about that thing grown-ups do
On the beds at night, with the lights closed.
It's a thing called lust but we wouldn't know
Because it was still a long time ago.

Because we didn't judge when we were young
But as we grow older, bad things come
Inside our mind and it is blinded
By materialistic thoughts.
"God, she's changed" sound familiar?
"She wasn't like this when we were friends."
What we really need, this day and age
Is an epiphany to wake us up
And to take us back to the days when we
Were
Young.
