17th Biennale Exhibition!!

Today, my art class went on an excursion to the 17th Biennale Exhibition :)
We left school around 8:45am and arrived at Circular Quay,
waiting for the Museum of Contemporary Arts to open at 10. Outside the museum was a major art piece called Neuron created by Roxy Paine using stainless steel. It was amazing.
When we entered the M
useum, we walked briefly around the museum on a 2hour tour with a tour guide called Johnny. He was pretty funny and he showed us a video and a few of the works including:
Wow that was a lot! Click the names for a link to a picture of it! Seriously...it's worth looking at :) especially since I spent an hour looking for the photos online T
____T!!!
Anyways, after the two hours, we left for a bit of lunch before we catch our Free Ferry to Cockatoo Island at 1pm. It was raining a little and there was a man dancing with a life-size doll on the streets...

Then a random man came up to us and sort of half forced us into these global peace outfits...I only have a photo of Joanna o_o since the one of me is super blurry.

Awww that's adorable :)
So then we boarded the ferry and made our way to Cockatoo Island. It was once a Prison so everything about it made me feel uneasy. We headed into the Turbine Shop first to look at the exhibitions. I was actually allowed to take photos this time :) yay!

Alright!!!! That's about it :D
We watched some more videos. AES+F was particularly interesting, in my opinion.
Then we took the ferry back to Circular Quay and I caught the train with Leona back to Hurstville. There, I had dinner at Nandos with my mum and sister :D
Fully stuffed myself....
Oh yea one more thing...
I'm loving the violet contacts again >:D

What matters most...

Sometimes people stray from the right path thinking they did no wrong. Like friends, for example. Your true friend will always be the one you feel most comfortable with. Look back to your best memories and she will be the one who's in all of them.

Friends who abandon you or you abandoning your friend out of jealousy or mistrust is a sin. But it's a storm one must overcome to reach the rainbow. Friendship can renew itself and if it can renew itself after a thunderstorm, then that Friendship is worth fighting for.

And when you find true friendship. When it dawns on you who your true friend is. Be true to them and never let go of it.

Humans make mistakes but the most important thing is what you do about it.

Eye Food, Eye Boost

Alright so...as a frequent contact lenses wearer...keeping your eyes clean and healthy is very important. As of late, I haven't been paying much attention to that and very often, I fall asleep with the contacts in my eyes...that's a big NONO.
As a result and a lot of people have noticed that my eyes are now prone to redness and after a scratch from a tree branch a couple of months back, it even showed subtle signs of inflammation.
Additionally, staring into the computers 80% of the time since the radiation strains your eyes a lot...along with lack of sleep, I think it's not unfair to say that I haven't been taking care of my eyes.
So, very recently (alright two days ago), I visited the Optometrist and she directed me to the eye doctors (I forgot their occupational name) and she gave me some tips. Along with hygiene and adequate amounts of sleep, the food you eat is also very important.
She told me that for your eyes to function properly, there is a daily dietary requirement of certain vitamins you gotta consume. So I compiled a list of them (and reasons why you need them) below...

Firstly, let's go through SOME of the nutrients you need for eye health sustainment :)

Beta-carotene
You need at least 20,000 IU (International Units) of beta-carotene every day for good eye health. Be sure not to consume over this amount as overconsumption can cause it to accumulate under your skin and cause your skin to grow orange. However, when you cut back on it, the effect will disappear.
An Idea of what you should eat:
  • About half a cup of cooked carrots (It provides more beta carotene than raw carrots) OR
  • Half a cup of cooked spinich OR
  • Half a cup of mashed sweet potato OR
Additionally
  • Nibble on some dried apricots (it is high on beta carotene when it is dried)

Lutein and Zeaxanthin
You need at least 6 mg of lutein and zeaxanthin every day from your diet. The dietary intake recommendation is 6-10 mg per day.
An Idea of what you should eat (feel free to mix and match):
  • About half a cup of brocolli will give you 1.5mg of it so around 4 cups OR
  • Two sticks of dark green celery OR
  • Half a cup of cooked spinich
Additionally
  • Eat some green beans (they are a rich source of lutein and zeaxanthin)
  • Dare to try some brussel sprouts?
  • Munch on some corns!!
  • Try leeks >:(
  • Eat some leaf lettuce, maybe with salad or in a sandwich :)!!!
  • Eat some green peas :D
Vitamin C
You need at least 1,000 mg of Vitamin C daily to help preserve your sight.
You’ll find it very difficult to get this much Vitamin C from your diet, so take a 500 mg supplement and add 500 mg from your diet.
An Idea of what you should eat (feel free to mix and match):
  • About half a cup of acerola (a breed of cherry) OR
  • Half a cup of acerola juice (which gives you 4 times more Vitamin C then the fruit) OR
  • Half a cup of orange juice which gives you around 60mg so drink 10 cups of that? LOL
Additionally
  • Swap your junk food for some kiwi
  • Suck on some LEMON hohohohohooho *evil grin*
  • Have some Cantaloupe after dinner
  • Put some tomato in your sandwich!

Vitamin E
You should have between 100 IU and 400 IU of Vitamin E to protect your eyes from the effects of oxidation.
An Idea of what you should eat (feel free to mix and match):
  • Two cups of roasted almonds OR
  • A cup of sunflower seeds
Additionally
  • Replace nutella with peanut butter when eating sandwiches
  • Eat some eggs!!! Yes and eat the yolk too!
  • Drink milk...it doesn't have to be a lot! Maybe half a cup even?
  • Avocados are good too!
  • Eat wholegrain foods :D
Selenium
Selenium and Vitamin E work better together than either does on its own!!! You need at least 70 mcg (micrograms, or millionths of a gram) of selenium per day!
An Idea of what you should eat (feel free to mix and match):
  • Around six cups of tofu OR
  • Two cups of brown rice
  • Four ounces of canned tuna
Additionally
  • Instead of tuna, try sardines or mackerels!
  • Maybe even try some cod :)
  • Seafoods in general will have lots of this!
Zinc
The dietary intake recommendations for eye health is to get at least 50 mg per day of zinc from your diet.
An Idea of what you should eat (feel free to mix and match):
  • Four ounces of oysters, it gives you almost all of your daily requirement :) OR
  • Half a cup of oats
Additionally
  • Snack on some roasted cashews!
Other Foods
Blueberries and bilberries
Blueberries and bilberries are an excellent source of anthocyanins, which help with night blindness, and have a positive effect on cataracts (it's when clouding occurs at the lens of your eyes) and macular degeneration (loss of sight, usually due to age).

So that's it!!! Wow...this took me a while to compile T____T I'm gonna go take a small rest now...

Flopping on the floor, Sunny side up!

Okies, woke up at 10am today and scavenged some breakfast from the fridge...o__o bread with peanut butter more like it...I feel like having lunch soon :)
Vegetable minestrone soup with green bean noodles...yum yum xD
I'm currently doing the last of my Hatshepsut notes for Ancient History...and later I'm gonna do some revision on Inverse Trig...gotta work it up!!!
I'm getting really thirsty lately...I'm literally gulping down 5L of water per day ><...around 7~8 600mL bottles a day..maybe somethings wrong with me... T___T
But let's not think negative thoughts! I can't stress anymore than I'm already am. Everyone thinks I'm stress-less but there's more to my life than they know. It's really annoying actually...how everyone just assumes they know what's going on...
I'm like an egg you know...frying on the pan...sunny side up...so everyone sees the nice, bright sunny side...but really, I'm just burning on the other side...and no one will do anything until the other side is burnt...
SIGHHHHHH DEPRESSING!!!!!!!
ALRIGHT! Here's a picture to cheer myself up..

LOL ASH!

How to keep your lips hydrated in Winter

Alright, so we all know to use lip balm when our lips get chapped right? But they dry up really quickly too...and layers of lip balm just doesn't seem to be the right solution.
That's when I watched a lip care tutorial on youtube...
MichellePhan...as usual ;)
Basically, there's 3 simple steps...

1) Exfoliate your lips to get rid of the dried up skin
2) Apply lip balm
3) Drink Water

In the video below, Michelle shows you this special mixture she makes to exfoliate AND moisturize your lips at the same time :) Ignore the title!!!

Maybe ignore the lipstick part o__o since that's not the point =)

Oh My God...Supernatural The Animation?! MY LIFE IS COMPLETE!

Hohohohohohohoho....the title says it ALL!
Basically, MADHOUSE (the anime superpower company)is creating an anime based on the Supernatural series. You know what that means! Sam and Dean in an animated sequence with both original and new episodes :D CAN LIFE GET ANY BETTER...I'm over the moon...literally x]

Here's the article:
The Cinema Today website reports that MADHOUSE is the acclaimed anime studio (Death Note, Paprika, Vampire Hunter D, Summer Wars) that is producing the previously announced Supernatural the Animation project for Warner Brothers. According to the website, this is the world’s first animated project from a Japanese anime studio that is based on a popular overseas drama series. Shigeyuki Miya (Lupin III: Green vs Red, Aoi Bungaku Series, Buzzer Beater) and Atsuko Ishizuka (Aoi Bungaku Series) are co-directing the project.

Warner Home Video will release Supernatural the Animation on Blu-ray and DVD in Japan on January 12, 2011. The original live-action series follows the Winchester brothers Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) as they hunt creatures and other supernatural phenomena across the American landscape. The series premiered on The WB network in the United States in 2005, and it will enter its sixth season on The WB’s replacement network, The CW, this fall.

The animeanime.jp website reports that the anime will be a 22-episode season that will cover the storyline of the live-action version’s first two seasons. The first volume will ship on January 12 with the first two episodes. On February 2, the “Box 1″ set will ship with episodes 3 to 12. On April 6, the “Box 2″ set will ship with episodes 13 to 22. (There will be a different release schedule for the rental version of the project.)

The anime project will not only remake the best episodes from the live-action version, but also depict original episodes not seen in the live-action version. Those original episodes will include prologues of the Winchester brothers’ childhood, anime-only enemies, and episodes featuring secondary characters from the live-action version.

Supernatural creator Eric Kripke is credited as the anime project’s creator, and MADHOUSE co-founder Masao Maruyama is serving as executive producer. Naoya Takayama (Night Head, Liar Game) is supervising the series’ scripts, and Takahiro Yoshimatsu (Trigun) is designing the characters.

Winter Essentials!!!

*sniffle sniffle*
It's so cold I'm sweating ice-cubes...if you know what I mean o_O
Please don't try to picture than in your head...it's really disgusting.
ANYWAYS...as I made my way home today, I realised theres 5 things I can't do without in winter.

1) Lip Balm
Seriously guys, no joke.
My lips get so chapped, bits of it starts to flake off =( It's a really hideous sight so I HAVE to moisturize it 5 times a day. That's why it's always handy to lip balm in your bag in winter...you never know when your lips might start flaking O_O
Recommendations:
It's really good when you want to apply it in pu
blic since its packaging's really nice and you don't have to use your fingers. It moisturizes and seals the moisture inside your lips longer than normal lipbalms and the SPF 8 component serves as protection against UV and other lousy dangerous stuff. It's really good :)
More than just a pretty label! Alright, so the cute case and chain play a big part in this, but the lip balm itself is also pretty good. First of all, it's sweet so it doesn't feel like you've got a layer of vaseline on your lips and secondly, you can use it as lip-colouring too!
Okay, I dunno how to describe how good this is. It's a combination of moisturizer, vitamin su
pplement and protectant for your lips and this is probably my favourite out of the three!!

2) Scarf
Scarves in winter...WOW AMY, YOU'RE A GENIUS, you might think. But seriously, lots of people think wearing scarves are unnecessary...or that it's gay...or something like that. But honestly, your neck is one of the most important parts your body and you really gotta keep that warm. If you neck is warm, your whole body will too.
Recommendations:
I have one of these and they're so warm. Mufflers go around your entire neck and loops itself a couple of times so it really keeps the warmth in :)

3) Hand moisturizer
Because there's nothing worse than a chapped/dry hand *dies*
Recommendations:
My mum uses this brand, so I used this brand and now I know why. When they say cream, they mean moisturizer/perfume/healing/anti-aging/protection.
Two in one...moisterizing AND whitening ;D I bought this one for myself and the Peach one for my mum and we LOVE it xD And the fruit packaging is really cute. But there's one bad thing about it..it's sorta bulky and hard to carry around o.o so use this only as a novelty, not for everyday use.

4) Extra Stockings!!
What did you expect? It's rainy season and the only thing keep our legs warm are stockings!! So if they get wet then..well...let's not think about that...*shivers*
Recommendations:
To be honest, I don't like the really thick wooly stockings since they make your legs really uncomfortable when you're sitting down and there's a heater on somewhere in the room.
But since it's just your back-up pair...
Any old stockings will do

5) Hair Comb/Brush
Winter = Cold, Ruthless wind...and for those with long hair like me? Well, I've sorta given up trying to make my hair stay put...after walking through Hurstville in the wind, I look almost like Hermione Granger...ALMOST.
Recommendations:
Bring a fold-up brush instead of a comb if you have long hair because they get the knots out of your hair faster (and less painful) than combs...also, the pointy spikes on the brush massages your scalp so after the cold wind, it feels really nice.

So there's my 5 things :D
I like to shop online since it's easier to compare prices and I know I'm getting the most out of money...yesstyle.com is the way to go ;D ;D *wink wink*
NO this is not an advertisement O_O
